We are so pleased that Cafe Manouche will be returning to the Country Soul. A gypsy jazz & swing band, Cafe Manouche are making their stamp on the London musical scene. Inspired by the great gypsy guitar players of old this energetic quartet really know how to swing. Not confined to swing only undercurrents of 1920's hot jazz and 1950's be-bop can also be heard in their music. Fronted by vocalist Natalia Amy Douglas with her natural and soulful style, the twin guitars of Matt Kerry & Harry Diplock and Christian Hamblin on 'hot' double bass make up the fine musical accompaniment.
Le Hotclub De Londres
The Country Soul is thrilled that Le Hotclub De Londres will be making their debut at the CSS. A classic outfit based on the Quintette du Hot Club de France with Django inspired guitars and Louis Vola bass stylee, expect some real cool swing tunes, gypsy melodies and jazz classics. Period sounds but utterly modern Le Hotclub De Londres make music that is both joyous and soulful. Featuring the twin 'Selmeresque' guitars of David Ahmed and Richard Bawcombe accompanied by Mr Paul Malloy on bass.
The Ballroom Cats
We are delighted to welcome debut outfit The Ballroom Cats to the Country Soul Sessions. A multi-national hot swing band, co-founded by guitarist Jean-Marie Fagon (The Man Overboard Quintet, Arifa's Reefers) and amazing swing accordionist Christian Ludwig-Meyer, the band also includes Louisa Jones (The Man Overboard Quintet, Whiskey Moon Face) on vocals and double bass, and Berlin-based clarinetist / saxophonist James Scannell (The Pasadina Roof Orchestra). The Ballroom Cats played a series of very successful gigs in Bavaria in the summer of 2019 and are now ready to hit London. A truly not to be missed hot swing band.
