EFG London Jazz Festival - PATCHWORK ORCHESTRA
A collaboratively-run17-piece jazz orchestra full of top young players, whose distinguishing characteristic being that all the repertoire is composed for the band by its members. Consequently the vibe of the music is wonderfully varied with diverse influences from Kenny Wheeler to Loose Tubes, Gordon Goodwin to Mingus.
Trumpets: JAMES DAVISON, JAMES COPUS, ADAM CHATTERTON & TOM DENNIS; Saxes: MATT HERD, SAM RAPLEY, ALEX HITCHCOCK, SAM GLASER & SAM MILES; Trombones: KIERAN MCCLEOD, TOM GREEN, JAMIE PIMENTA & YUSUF NARÇIN; Rhythm: LIAM DUNACHIE piano, BILLY MARROWS guitar, MISHA MULLOV-ABBADO bass & SCOTT CHAPMAN drums.
In 2015 the Patchwork Orchestra won the Peter Whittingham Award for “innovative recording, composition and performance projects in the field of cutting edge jazz” The prize money funded the new album ‘THE ADVENTURES OF MR POTTERCAKES’
