Wednesday 17th July 2019
8:00pm - 11:00pm
Tickets £12.00

NEIL ANGILLEY piano/keys/vocalsDAVIDE GIOVANNINI (Paul McCartney, Steve Winwood) on drums/vocals & DAVIDE MANTOVANI (Babba Maal, Jim Mullen, Andy Sheppard) on bass. Composed by leading UK Latin-jazz pianist Neil Angilley, the trio have just released a new recording called ‘THE LAKE DISTRICT'- an eclectic mix of jazz & classical music. The first set will feature highlights from this symphonic work, which was written over a period of almost 30 years by Neil. It is a musical description of one of the most beautiful areas in England. Whilst reminiscent of the ECM period of Keith Jarrett it has also has been compared to Dave Grusin’s Mountain Dance Album.

The second set displays the virtuosity of the three musicians. The trio perform a dazzling mix of Latin Jazz from earlier albums – ‘HAVANA CLUB’ & ‘CHANGO’. Not only playing their instruments, but singing in three part harmony, they pack a punch with a captivating sound – an infectious foot-tapping mix of Brazilian and Afro Cuban rhythms.

"Neil Angilley has long been one the UK’s best kept secrets in the Jazz world. The Neil Angilley Trio debut album – Havana Club is nothing short of spectacular, reminiscent, at times of the great works of Michel Camillo and Chick Corea, this Brazillian-fusion trio album is world class and is a very fulfilling listen. I won’t highlight any particular title on the album as they’re all great, so, as I say: just take a moment to check it out."  Blues & Soul Magazine "The crowd were captivated by the Neil Angilley Trio's authentic Brazilian rhythms on top of rich vocal harmonies, segueing into staggering solo & group passages of virtuosity. Sensational" - Ronnie Scott’s  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BMtXLQAVEQ&feature=youtu.be Doors open: 6pm, Music: 8-11pm - £12/£10 - 'Early Bird' tickets: £8 advance
