‘Strong contemporary jazz double-bill’ - Originally from Berlin, Johanna is inspired by the electronic world as well as classic jazz greats such as Miles Davis, Eberhard Weber and Zbigniew Seifert among many others. As the violin is only scarcely represented in the jazz world, there is much that can be explored on the instrument when allowing it
to be a part of the groove and electronic jazz world. The current London jazz scene is a brilliant platform for finding new space for unusual jazz instruments and mixing different genres together. This band brings you lots of odd metres disguised
with catchy bass-lines, heavy grooves and synthesizer sounds, topped off with acoustic violin enhanced by electronics and once in a while even some lyrics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1308&v=10B9e_8exqcJAY DAVIS'S BADTRADarose from inquisitiveness about people, where they came from and how this affects their personalities and lives in general. Compositions include pieces using melodies overheard being hummed by strangers in the street, a robotic construction from a laptop and a three year olds' piano improvisation. Showcasing some of the most exciting improvisers from the UK scene, the band draw on a broad range of musical influences from European choral music to free jazz. JAMES COPUS trumpet, JAMES ALLSOPP tenor sax, HUW V WILLIAMS bass & JAY DAVISdrums/glockenspiel. Doors open: 6pm, Music: 8-11pm - £10/£8 advance http://www.wegottickets.com/event/470252
