The Homing are a London based alt-Country band formed in 2014.
Their sound is characterised by strong vocal harmonies with an eclectic mix of folk, rock and country instruments and influences, creating a dense, dynamic soundscape that defies categorisation but evokes memories of 70s radio classics.
Front and centre is country outlaw songstress Dani Somerside; commanding the stage with her lively performances and powerful vocals, but capable of soft moments of pathos and tenderness.
Together with seasoned folkie Jill Cumberbatch (The Kittiwakes) on fiddle, Bouzouki and mandolin, acoustic and electric guitar player Abraham Kane and rounded out by a powerful rhythm section from rock bass player Mark Smith and soulful drummer Rob Navratil (Ozi Ozaa), the band combine three voices and over twenty instruments on a journey from a cappella via country duets to blistering rock n roll.
With occasional nods to their heroes, the sound is all their own.
Little Blue Thula
Little Blue Thula are an alt-folk duo described by critics as “passionate with wholesome melodies which are doused in warm Americana elements”. Forming over a year ago, playing almost 80 shows (of which some include supporting signed artists) and a full length album recorded, it’s fair to say they are fast becoming one of the most productive bands on the circuit.
With influences which vary from Bright Eyes and Elliott Smith to Townes van Zandt and Hank Williams, the sound and style of Little Blue Thula is unlike anything else heard on the local music scene.
“The bands folksy rhythm is reminiscent of Simon & Garfunkel’s melodious Lyricism”
Clio and Maurice
Clio and Maurice is the name of an impossible duo. A voice and a violin are merging and colliding, in search of a common dimension. It is composed of the soul singer Clio Colombo and the violinist Martin Nicastro (Pashmak). The duo was born in August of 2017 and since then the two played in some of the most popular venues in Milan. In 2018 they toured Germany and France, and they will be soon in England, Netherlands and Marocco. They are currently recording their first EP.
Clio and Maurice's music is a fusion of different influences, brought togheter by the minimalism of their atypical formation: from Nina Simone's soul music to the experimental pop of Bjork's and Arca's last works, passing through the compositions of Steve Reich and Arvo Pärt. Strings are orchestrated and multiplied with the use of a loop machine, while violin's acustic sounds are digitally manipulated: they form the soundscapes where the voice, with all its colors and shades, is the main protagonist.
